Using Flux News with Miniflux

Connect Flux News, the native Miniflux reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, to your Miniflux server in under a minute.

Flux News is a client for Miniflux, a minimalist, open-source RSS reader you can run yourself or use as a hosted service. Flux News is free on the App Store (listed as Flux News Reader) — one download for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

You’ll need

  • A Miniflux server — self-hosted, or an account at miniflux.app. Version 2.3.2 or newer is recommended; older versions work with a warning and some features unavailable.
  • iOS 17, iPadOS 17, or macOS 14 or later.

1. Create an API key

In Miniflux, open Settings → API Keys → Create a new API key. Give it a name like “Flux News” and copy the key.

2. Connect

Open Flux News, enter your server address — for example https://reader.example.com, without /v1/ — and paste the API key.

3. Read

Your folders, feeds, and unread counts appear, and articles download in the background for offline reading. Read state, stars, and folders stay in sync with Miniflux on all your devices.

Troubleshooting

  • “Unauthorized” — re-copy the API key. Miniflux only shows a key once, so create a new one if you’ve lost it.
  • Can’t connect — check that the server address opens in Safari on the same device, and that it uses https://.
  • Still stuck? In Flux News, use Settings → About → Send Feedback (or Help → Send Feedback… on Mac). It includes your app and OS versions — never your server address or API key. Or email support@redantelope.com.

Flux News is an independent app and is not affiliated with the Miniflux project.
